MS Word Legal and Corporate - Your Music Does Not Start Because It Is Not Placed At The Right Location…


Scenario:  Operator calls.  They have been asked to do a Presentation where there will be music playing while the animations and transitions are occurring.  The operator can not get the music to start along with the opening transition which is what was requested.

So normally, we would load the music on slide 1 using Insert Audio.  Under the “Play Back” tab, under Audio Tools, we would make sure it start’s “automatically” and-plays across “all slides”.  I generally use “High” for volume level but experiment with that.  You can also hide the audio icon while you are in there if you wish.  By the way, double clicking on that audio icon that sits on your slide you were in when you loaded the audio opens the Play Back Tab as well.  In this situation slide 1.

Here is the problem we found.  Under Animations, you need to bring up the “Animation Pane.”  It coms up on the right side of the screen.  On that first slide, you will see the mention of the audio file you loaded along with the animations you might have set up on that first slide.  Here is the key:  The music file must be the very first item on slide 1, if you want the music to start playing from the very beginning. The up and down arrows will appear when you select the audio file in the animation pane.  Select the audio file and use the up arrow to move it to the very first slot on the Animation Pane representing Slide 1.  

Your music should now start from the very beginning when you run the presentation.
