Document Compare - Whole Word vs Character Level
Document Compare - Whole Word vs Character Level
As you know, Document Compare (Review Tab Right Side), allows you to Compare two separate documents in order to see the Deletions and Insertions between the two versions of the document.
In larger legal firms, where a Document Management System Is Used ("DMS"), two separate documents are also compared. This can take the form of two separate versions of two separate document numbers or two separate versions of the same document number are compared. We then save the comparison black line as a PDF file and we send the attorney a clean (the document you just worked on), the PDF black-line as well as his/her original mark-up that they brought down for editing.
As to the "Whole Word" vs. “Character Level”, this appears in the lower left hand portion of the Compare Dialog Box and we use the "Word Level" selection.
The "Character Level" selection will show any character that has changed within a word while the "Word Level" selection will mark the entire word with Strike Through and/or Double Underscore if one character or more should change within that word.
Try the Compare Feature when you can. Very easy to use.
