Going To A Particular Page and Going To The First Page of a Chapter in Adobe PDF

Scenario:  So, we are alerted that one of our attorneys is going to give a talk and he needs someone to come with him that will be able to jump around in the PDF as needed so that those attending the event will see what is needed on the screen at that moment using the overhead projector. With me so far?

  1.  In order to get the PDF to act accordingly, our MS Word Document needs a Table of Contents that is using the “Insert As Hyperlink” selection.  When running your TOC with the Hyperlink selection, when we convert it to PDF, just clicking on a particular entry in the TOC will take us to the first page of the selected Chapter.
  2. When in the PDF, in order to get to a particular page of the PDF outside of the TOC you use this shortcut "Ctrl + Shift + N"; on Mac OS, it is "Cmd + Shift + N". This brings up a dialog box to go to a specific page number.
  3. Now that these two items are in place, people ask how can I quickly get back to the top of the document?  Just like in MS Word, Control Home to go to the top of the document and Control End to go to the last page of the document.
